Dehradun, India – Aloka Dasgupta Niyogi, an acclaimed educationist, social entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and visionary behind The Literary Table (TLT), has authored her debut novel, Inheritors of Silence: Four Generations and a Forgotten Homeland, a poignant exploration of the enduring trauma caused by the Partition of India in 1947. The novel delves into the emotional journey of a family torn apart by displacement, and the search for identity amidst the echoes of a lost homeland.

The novel tells the story of Anurima, the firstborn of the fourth generation of the Dasgupta family, whose life is shaped by the enduring legacy of her family’s roots in Bangladesh. Growing up, Anurima is regaled with stories of her family’s rich heritage by her aunt, Mihir Kumari, also known as Rangapishi, who shares vivid memories of their ancestral homeland. Yet, even as these stories fill her with a sense of pride and longing, Anurima’s search for her true identity becomes a lifelong journey, especially as the homeland she dreams of is "forgotten" by time and political boundaries.
