Harpith Pandian and Harpita Pandian who are student entrepreneurs of grade 10, CPS Global School have been selected as mentees of the Junior Academy – a prestigious STEM program that deals with extensive research and problem solving on some of the largest global challenges. “This year’s challenge deals with battling the global problem of Eutrophication through innovative approaches. We will specifically be using leading technologies like remote sensing and Machine Learning models to solve the challenge. We highly recommend that students take part in STEM related programs in order to gain hands-on experience in solving global challenges” quoted Harpith and Harpita.
Every year, the New York Academy of Sciences selects 1,000 of the worlds brightest high school students (ages 13-17) to become part of The Junior Academy, joining a dynamic global network of like-minded peers and mentors. The rigorous application process includes being meritorious, writing creative essays based on any STEM field and obtaining recommendation letters from teachers. Students work together on Launchpad, the Academy’s unique, online platform and they compete in project-based challenges focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Challenge winners will travel to New York and attend the Global STEM Alliance Summit at the New York Academy of Sciences, which is held every July.
The twins Harpith and Harpita are already quite well known globally as “The Great Australian Spelling Bee Twins”. They are the Founders of an EdTech Company, Classminds (www.classminds.com) where over 2000 students have enrolled and enriched their Spelling, Language & Communication Skills. The twins also recently founded an Artificial Intelligence Company – Astralogic Innovation Systems (www.astralogic.ai). The twin entrepreneurs are currently working on developing an Artificial Intelligence powered Vocabulary App that focuses on providing a practical learning experience for students. This app will surely prove to be a lifelong learning companion for students globally.
The twins have been involved in various social activities ever since the mere age of 8. They were working with the TamilNadu State Government to make educational, English learning videos for 1.2 crore government school students, helping them enrich their communication skills.
Harpith and Harpita are also part of Dr APJ Kalam Vision 2020 team, where they are co-authors of an educational E-magazine Manavar Kadamai, teaching communication skills.
Recently, the twins also became the youth ambassadors of ExNoRa International – A reputed environmental organization that has been serving the community for 30 years and is promoting global awareness on Climate Change.
