In a refreshing dose of humor and fantasy, V.S. Sury’s latest offering, Jestus, has caught the eye of book reviewer Anjali Mishra—and, judging by the buzz online, numerous other readers, including @infinitenovels. This whimsical, unpredictable novel turns the mundane on its head, blending quirky escapades with surprisingly profound insights into human nature.
Sury’s titular protagonist, Jestus, makes an unforgettable impression. Dubbed the hero of “fuzzy-dizzy logic,” he navigates everyday dilemmas—whether earning a billion in five weeks or pacifying noisy neighbors—with solutions so outlandish they border on genius. At first glance, Jestus might seem delightfully unhinged, but as Mishra notes, the method behind his madness often masks deeper truths. The humor is absurd, yet it carries an unexpected weight, prompting readers to question their own assumptions about reality.
About the Book
In Jestus, the mundane meets the extraordinary. Whether it’s making a billion in five weeks, handling robber-cum-rapists, or outsmarting noisy neighbors with a gift of plastic swastikas, Jestus has an outrageous (yet astonishingly effective) solution for everything. At times, he seems downright mad—but there’s a laced logic behind his madness that pulls readers in and doesn’t let go. Written with a lighthearted touch, Jestus also explores subtle truths about life, reality, and how we perceive both.
“He appears to be insane, but he drives you crazy by his words—fuzzy logic. His concomitant actions make you dizzy. The combination is called ‘fuzzy-dizzy logic,’ which can make the impossible possible, and the possible impossible.” —V.S. Sury
A Surreal Take on Everyday Problems
Sury’s titular protagonist, Jestus, makes an unforgettable impression. Dubbed the hero of “fuzzy-dizzy logic,” he navigates everyday dilemmas—whether earning a billion in five weeks or pacifying noisy neighbors—with solutions so outlandish they border on genius. At first glance, Jestus might seem delightfully unhinged, but as Mishra notes, the method behind his madness often masks deeper truths. The humor is absurd, yet it carries an unexpected weight, prompting readers to question their own assumptions about reality.
Structurally, Jestus unfolds like a series of fables, each chapter a fresh burst of comedic chaos reined in by Sury’s tight prose and vivid descriptions. The absurdity peaks in standout moments—think a psychiatrist treated by his patient or a “romantic eternal rectangle” that refuses to play by the usual rules. Meanwhile, the emotional undercurrents lend a sense of warmth and reflection that keep the narrative from tipping over into mere farce.
Drawing on his engineering background, Sury imbues his tale with an undercurrent of methodical precision, giving shape to the madness. Currently residing in Mysore, the rather reclusive author has spun a character who feels both larger-than-life and yet uncannily relatable—proof that the distance between fantasy and reality can be bridged with enough wit and imagination.
For those who enjoy satire, surrealism, or intelligent humor, Jestus delivers an experience that is equal parts laughter and insight. From local online reviewers to casual readers, the consensus is clear: this is a must-read. With a 4.5/5 rating, Jestus stands out as a contemporary gem in Indian fiction—one that proves the most unlikely stories can carry the most resonant truths.

A Must-Read for the Curious
For readers who crave satire and surrealism—or for those who simply enjoy good-hearted mischief—Jestus delivers. It has already earned a 4.5/5 rating from multiple reviewers, underscoring its appeal as a boundary-pushing gem in Indian literature. With laugh-out-loud moments offset by flashes of introspection, this novel manages to be both entertaining and, at times, startlingly wise.
