In a music landscape overflowing with overnight sensations, Mrinal Sarkar—better known as DJ Nick—stands out as an artist built on grit, discipline, and years of evolution. Born in Guwahati, Assam, Nick stepped behind the console at just 13, earning recognition as one of the youngest DJs in Northeast India. What began as a childhood spark quickly turned into a serious artistic journey driven by ambition far beyond the four walls where he first learned to mix.
Nick’s early years were anything but easy. Breaking into clubs as a young teenager meant constant skepticism, lack of access, and the pressure to prove himself in a scene dominated by older names. Yet he persisted—developing a bold Bollywood-meets-EDM sound long before the fusion reached mainstream popularity. His distinct style, infectious energy, and refusal to follow trends quickly set him apart on the regional circuit.
But the rise came with its own shadows. At a point when his name was climbing fast, anxiety and personal battles forced Nick to step back, halting years of momentum. For most artists, a break like that becomes the end of the story—
for Nick, it became the catalyst for reinvention.
Now 26, Nick returns with renewed clarity and a matured vision for his sound. His newest body of work, Global Masala Music, marks a new chapter—an EP series rooted in culture, identity, and experimentation. The first release is already gaining attention, with more mashups and originals on the way.
With 27 major brands in his portfolio and 400+ club shows and wedding performances across Assam and beyond, Nick’s journey reflects persistence rather than luck. Outside the console, he fuels inspiration through night drives, discovering new places, curating fresh music, and surrounding himself with people who elevate his mindset. Even off the stage, he is constantly in creation mode—crate-digging, experimenting, and refining his sound.
From a 13-year-old dreamer to a seasoned artist shaping the next chapter of fusion music, DJ Nick isn’t just returning to the scene—
he’s evolving it.
