Hyderabad,23 rd Sept , 2024 — Trading late-night coding marathons for film sets and storyboards, Ravikumar Nasu has redefined what it means to follow a dream. Once a Silicon Valley engineer immersed in debugging sessions, Nasu now commands the indie film spotlight with a style that fuses technical precision with deep emotional storytelling.
His first major leap came with UNLOAD 2021, a tense pandemic-era thriller shot in Los Angeles. Released on Amazon Prime in early 2023, the film drew praise for its gripping performances and human-centered narrative. Its premise—a desperate father entangled in a scam that intertwines five families—earned Nasu recognition as a bold new voice in cinema.
Now, Nasu has embarked on his second feature, Padamati Sandhya Ragam, an ambitious drama that explores themes of love, suspicion, and betrayal across two continents.
The Pooja Ceremony: A Sacred Beginning
The production began with a traditional pooja ceremony in Virginia on August 29, 2024. Family members, cast, and crew gathered at a local temple to seek blessings for the film’s success. Rituals included lighting the lamp, breaking the coconut, and chanting prayers for prosperity and smooth filming.
“Starting our film with a pooja gave us positive energy,” said director Nasu. “It reminded me of Hyderabad traditions, even though we are thousands of miles away in America. That spiritual beginning has kept us focused and motivated.”
Filming in Virginia
From that auspicious day onward, shooting began in full swing. Virginia has offered more than just cinematic backdrops. It has provided a supportive environment where filmmaking feels both professional and personal.
“Our team secured all the necessary permissions in advance,” Nasu explained. “That preparation allowed us to move smoothly from location to location.”
Cinematographer Sai Kiran Ayinampudi. praised the state’s landscapes: “Virginia has a perfect balance of historic charm and modern energy. The natural light here is stunning. It’s a cinematographer’s dream.”
Expanding to Iconic Locations
The film’s scope stretches beyond Virginia. Nasu confirmed that parts of the story will be filmed in Washington, D.C., including sequences around the Capitol Building and downtown streets. A vibrant song sequence in New York City will bring high energy and cultural glamour. Additionally, select dramatic and musical moments will be filmed in India, grounding the story in its roots.

Teamwork and Support
The cast and crew have worked side by side as one unit. “Many local people stepped in to help us complete scenes on time,” Nasu said. “That spirit of support has been incredible.”
Assistant Director Padma Vayuvegula added, “Working with both Indian and American actors has been a learning experience. The cross-cultural energy on set is unique—you can see everyone learning from one another, and that’s what makes this project stand out.”
An American supporting actor also shared his excitement: “I’ve been part of independent films before, but this production feels different. The mix of Indian traditions, emotional storytelling, and Virginia’s atmosphere makes it truly special.”
A Cross-Cultural Storytelling Vision
Music will play a central role, blending Indian melodies with international arrangements. Song sequences planned in D.C., New York, and India will visually represent the film’s global narrative.
For Ravikumar Nasu, this film is not just about storytelling—it’s about proving that dreams can be nurtured in foreign soil without losing cultural roots. The pooja ceremony in Virginia symbolized that fusion, and every scene since reflects his journey from Hyderabad to Hollywood and now to the heart of Virginia.
With production advancing steadily, audiences can expect regular updates in the coming months. As Padamati Sandhya Ragam takes shape, anticipation grows for a film that promises to blend tradition, modernity, and heartfelt emotion on a truly global stage.
