Indore, Madhya Pradesh – August 2025: As India continues to experience a surge in cybercrime incidents, a focused initiative called “Digital Suraksha” has been launched by Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Indore, to raise cyber awareness among citizens and prevent digital exploitation.
“Digital Suraksha” is a large-scale awareness campaign aimed at educating people about online safety, responsible digital behaviour, and methods to identify and avoid cyber frauds. Through interactive sessions, workshops, and grassroots outreach, the initiative has already reached thousands across multiple states.
Rajesh Dandotiya, who also holds the distinction of being featured in the World Book of Records London, has now delivered more than 1000 cyber awareness sessions—a landmark achievement for any law enforcement official in the country. These sessions have covered a diverse audience, including school and college students, corporate professionals, women, and senior citizens.
Speaking on the need for such an initiative, Dandotiya said, “We need to build a culture of cyber responsibility. Most victims are unaware that they’re vulnerable, and that’s what cybercriminals exploit. Digital Suraksha is a way to change that.”
The campaign goes beyond traditional lectures by including real-life case studies, demonstrations of common frauds, and simple tools for digital hygiene. Many participants shared that the sessions helped them identify scams they would have otherwise ignored.
Rajesh Dandotiya, who is also a TEDx speaker and has spoken on platforms like Josh Talks and cybersecurity podcasts, has become one of the most recognisable voices on cyber safety in India.
“Digital Suraksha” is also influencing other police departments to take a more proactive approach toward cyber education. Several officers across districts have started replicating the model in their own regions. Experts believe such initiatives are key in bridging the gap between technology use and digital literacy, especially in semi-urban and rural belts.
As cyber threats evolve rapidly—from financial fraud to identity theft and cyberbullying—initiatives like Digital Suraksha are providing communities with the much-needed knowledge to stay protected online.
The Crime Branch Indore plans to scale the initiative further by partnering with educational institutions, corporate bodies, and NGOs. With increasing support and growing public interest, Digital Suraksha is poised to become a national movement in the coming months.
