Prof. Dr.Amar Agarwal, the chairman of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital stated the importance of eye donation in India with existing 1.2Lakh corneal blinds.
Prof Dr. Amar Agarwal stressed the need for Eye Donation in reality. Many people pledge their eyes but in case of their demise, the main purpose of eye donation is defeated. So it is my humble request that EVERY CITIZEN OF INDIA MUST ENSURE THE DONATION OF THEIR EYES AFTER THEIR DEATH.
“J.P. Eye Hospital,” a unit of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, is NABH accredited hospital and has been one of the most prominent, reliable, and trusted eye super-specialty hospitals in this Region since its inception in 1995.
Founder of JP Eye Hospital, Dr Jatinder Singh Expressing his gratitude for this initiative, said, Our main motto is “Prevention and cure of Worldwide blindness”. On the Charitable front, we have conducted more than 850 free eye operation camps in the region of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, HP, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh in which more than 3 lakh people were examined free of cost, more than 150000 spectacles were distributed free of cost and more than 90000 free successful eye operations with lens implantations were conducted.
Out of the total blindness 10 million prevalent in India, 1.2 lacks are corneal blind who need corneal transplantations, and there were only 23000 eye donations in years 21-22 and 56000 in years 22-23. Out of these only 27000 eyes could be used purposefully and others were not worthy of transplantation. Our Dr. Agarwals Eye Bank contributed to the 3016 eye retrieval processes in 2022-2023 and a total of 1021 transplantations were done by Dr. Agarwals group of eye hospitals collectively all over India.
