In the heart of Mewar, Rajasthan, where vibrant tribal culture thrives, a harsh reality persists—many are dismissed as uneducated or backward, pushed to society’s margins. This is the story of Shambhu, a member of the tribal community who lost his identity and even his real name to relentless discrimination. At school, he endured mockery for his appearance, clothes, and tribal roots. Despite his talents in music, art, and dance, his unique cultural expressions were sidelined. The pain of rejection and humiliation drove him to abandon school, retreating to the forests to collect wood and gum. Even there, exploitation followed—neither his labor nor his efforts in planting and protecting trees earned him respect or recognition. To the world, he was merely “Kalu.”
Shambhu’s story moved Neeraj Kumar to act. Determined to transform society, he founded the Sadashiv Meditation Research Foundation, launching initiatives to empower tribal communities through education, folk arts, and affordable training. The Future Thinkers Hub was born, dedicated to preserving local culture and traditions while equipping individuals with skills for sustainable livelihoods. This vision gained momentum with support from Unit for Growth, Dehradun, Army University, Himachal Pradesh, and the Art of Living team. Blessed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the Nav Chetna Shivir—a transformative camp—will commence on July 16, 2025, in Chhoti Sadri, Pratapgarh, a historic spiritual hub in Mewar.
Neeraj’s initiative has evolved into a movement. The Future Thinkers Lok Kala Khoj program will provide a platform for thousands of children to showcase their talents. Satyam Talkshow and Impartial News will highlight rural issues and exploitation, fostering awareness and change. In collaboration with Arni University, the Sadashiv Foundation will introduce B.VOC courses and other diploma programs in Mewar’s remote areas, aligned with the Government of India’s skill development initiatives.
On July 16, 2025, a grand Rudra Abhishek Puja will be held at the Sadashiv Meditation Research Foundation, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Neeraj, with deep emotion, shares, “I’ve endured poverty, exploitation, and lack of education. I don’t want my Mewar to suffer the same. With Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s blessings and Lord Shiva’s grace, I aim to bring a new light to Mewar.”
This is not just Shambhu’s story—it’s the story of every individual yearning to embrace their roots while finding a place of honor in mainstream society. From Mewar’s soil rises a revolution of empowerment and hope.
