Diwali 2023 Calendar: Auspicious Muhurat Dates

Let us share the details of each festival and their respective dates as shared by top Astrologer Pradip Verma –

When is Dussehra 2023?

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated on the tenth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Ashwin. This year, Dussehra falls on the 24th of October 2023. According to the Hindu Panchang, the Dashami Tithi of Ashwin begins on the 23rd of October at 5:44 PM and ends on the 24th of October at 3:14 PM. Additionally, on the same day, you can perform Shastra Puja from 1:58 PM to 2:43 PM.

When is Dhanteras 2023?

Dhanteras holds special significance in Hinduism as it is considered auspicious to buy gold, silver, and other items on this day. According to the Hindu Panchang, Dhanteras is observed on the Trayodashi Tithi of Kartik month. This year, Trayodashi Tithi begins on the 10th of November at 12:35 PM and ends on the 11th of November at 1:57 PM. Hence, Dhanteras will be celebrated on the 10th of November, which falls on a Friday. On this day, besides shopping, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Dhanvantari.

When is Narak Chaturdashi 2023?

Narak Chaturdashi, also known as Choti Diwali, Kali Chaudas, or Roop Chaudas, is observed the day after Dhanteras. It is a day to worship Lord Yamaraj and light lamps in the evening. To free yourself from the fear of hell, take a bath with til oil and Apamarga leaves in water in the morning. This year, Narak Chaturdashi falls on the 12th of November 2023, which is a Sunday.

When is Diwali 2023?

As per the Hindu Panchang, Diwali is celebrated on the Amavasya of Kartik month. This year, Kartik Amavasya begins on the 12th of November at 2:45 PM and lasts until the 13th of November at 2:56 PM. Diwali falls on the 12th of November, which is a Sunday. The auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja is from 5:39 PM to 8:16 PM on the same day. It is a time to worship Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and light lamps to ward off darkness.

When is Govardhan Puja 2023?

The day following Diwali is celebrated as Govardhan Puja. This festival is closely associated with Lord Shri Krishna. According to the Hindu Panchang, Govardhan Puja is observed on the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in Kartik month. This year, the Pratipada Tithi begins on the 14th of November at 4:18 PM and ends on the 15th of November at 2:42 PM. Therefore, Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on the 14th of November.

When is Bhai Dooj 2023?

Similar to Rakshabandhan, Bhai Dooj is a sacred festival celebrating the bond between siblings. It falls on the Dwitiya Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in Kartik month, also known as Yam Dwitiya. This year, Dwitiya Tithi begins on the 14th of November at 2:36 PM and ends on the 15th of November at 1:47 PM. According to the sunrise time, Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on the 14th of November.
