Bengaluru, November 9, 2025: The Vascular Surgeons Association of Karnataka (VASKAR) took a major stride toward building an “Amputation-Free India” by organizing the Walkathon 2025 in Bengaluru today. Over 500 doctors, vascular specialists, and paramedical professionals participated in the event, walking from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and vascular care in preventing avoidable amputations.
The Walkathon drew attention from both the medical fraternity and the public, symbolizing unity, compassion, and commitment to protecting limbs and lives from vascular diseases such as diabetes-related complications and peripheral arterial disease.
VASKAR Leadership Champions the Cause of Limb Preservation
Dr. Venkatesh Reddy K, President, VASKAR, highlighted the purpose behind the initiative:
“Our goal is to make India an amputation-free nation by encouraging early screening, lifestyle modification, and timely vascular intervention. Through events like this, we want to spread the message that most amputations are preventable if the public and primary care physicians recognize the signs early.”

Dr. Vishnu M, General Secretary, VASKAR, added:
“Vascular diseases are silent threats. This Walkathon is our call to action—for every citizen to be aware that simple vascular check-ups can make the difference between saving a limb and losing one.”
Dr. Murali Krishna N, Treasurer, VASKAR, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation:
“We are encouraged by the strong turnout from doctors and paramedical teams. Their presence reinforces our collective dedication to serve communities and prevent needless suffering.”
