Neeru Bajwa, Ammy Virk and Amberdeep Singh’s much awaited movie ‘Laung Laachi 2’ has been released finally in cinema halls. People are giving great response to the film. Moreover, whole cast and crew of the film is getting appreciation for their work in the movie.
This film opens on a lighter note than previous cinematic depictions of one of the most tragic events in Indian history. Mehnga (Amberdeep Singh) resides in a run-down home with his family. He is taking advantage of the “opportunity” of displacement to plunder property to improve his financial situation so he can marry off his sister. When he takes over a haveli, the previous Muslim family is still there. The two families live together till they find a safe way after being enamoured with the family’s elder daughter Mariam (Neeru Bajwa). The scenario becomes complicated when Karnail (Ammy Virk) and his family move into the haveli while romance is developing between the seemingly mismatched couple. There are difficulties with using Partition for anything. One risky option is to place a romance and a lighthearted drama in the background.
As the current monarch of Pollywood, Neeru Bajwa keeps her throne. She looks stunning in gowns and shararas. She engages the audience by evoking emotion and dancing. Ammy Virk’s reputation as a serious, literary type supports his persona. Although one empathizes with Amberdeep’s character, he now has to put effort into appearing like a “hero” as he has made the decision to become one. The principal act is well supported by theatre stalwarts Sahib Singh and Kuldip Sharma as the Nawab and his Man Friday. Mama, played by Gurmeet Sajan, is a cute character.Amar Noorie did justice to her character and looking stunning as Nawaban. Legendary singer Jaswinder Brar did her debut with this movie but we cannot even judge from her screen presence that it is her debut.
Four years after the first Laung Laachi hit theatres, actor, director Amberdeep Singh takes the step of bringing the sequel. The drama takes set in 1947 while people are being uprooted owing to Partition, and the lead actors Neeru Bajwa, Ammy Virk, and Amberdeep Singh—retain their positions.
