Bhumi, one of India’s largest independent youth-volunteer non-profits, today announced a major milestone for its flagship Skill-Ed employability program: since 2021, the program has trained over 20,000 underprivileged youth, 58% of whom are women. In the 2024–25 batch alone, it has facilitated 3,471 job placements across reputed companies. At a time when the India Skills Report 2024 estimates 52% of graduates are unemployable, Skill-Ed is equipping disadvantaged youth with industry-relevant technical and soft skills and creating a direct pathway from training to employment.

Bhumi’s Skill-Ed offers free, industry-aligned training in Core Java, Python, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Web Development, Advanced MS Office, Emerging Technologies, and Personality & Soft Skills. The program targets youth aged 18–24 years from families with an annual income of ₹5 lakh or less, with academic preferences including 60%+ at UG level and no standing arrears. Training is delivered via flexible virtual and hybrid sessions and includes mentorship by corporate experts and practical career-readiness modules.

Program & Impact:

  • 1. Youth trained (2021–2025): 20,000+ (58% of female beneficiaries trained)
  • 2. Total placements to date: 3,471 students were successfully placed in the 2024–25 batch
  • 3. Geographic focus: Tamil Nadu (campuses, virtual cohorts, and college tie-ups across the state)
  • 4. Core offerings: Technical courses (including Java, Python, Data Science, AI&ML, and Web Development), Advanced MS Office, Emerging Technologies, Aptitude, Personality Development, and Soft Skills
  • 5. Why choose Skill-Ed: Free training; industry-endorsed certification; dedicated placement support; corporate mentorship; flexible training session timings, online mode; proven track record of job-ready graduates.

A detailed Placement Cell report for Batch 2024–25 shows the program placed over 3,471 final-year students across IT, ITES, Core Engineering, and Healthcare. Placement outcomes include an average salary package of ₹2.5 LPA, with the highest package reaching ₹5 LPA. Bhumi’s data management system consolidated profiles of 6,000+ students from 40+ colleges in Tamil Nadu to streamline recruiter engagement and placements.

Placement Highlights & Industry Partnerships:

Skill-Ed’s strong industry connections have been central to its success. In the Batch 2024–25, leading companies such as Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Yamaha Music India Pvt. Ltd., Tata Electronics, Mphasis, Hitachi, Omega Healthcare, Firstsource, AVASOFT, and Tata Consultancy Services were engaged for recruitment. Notable guest lectures and workshops were conducted by industry experts from CGI, Firstsource, PayPal, and more.

Bhumi’s placement team also runs focused initiatives – mock interviews, aptitude drills, recruiter feedback loops, and campus hiring drives – to ensure candidates are job-ready and sustainable in employment.

“The Skill-Ed program by Bhumi has truly transformed my journey. Through the course, I overcame my stage fear, improved my coding and soft skills, and learned how to build a professional resume and profiles on platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed. The guidance on interview techniques gave me the confidence to secure a placement offer of ₹5 LPA from a reputed tech company. I am deeply grateful to the program for empowering me to take this important step in my career.” — Aron S, Final-Year Computer Science Engineering Student, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu

“As industries evolve, Bhumi’s Skill-Ed program is ensuring no young person is left behind. By partnering with expert volunteers from the IT sector, we’re equipping underprivileged students with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century workforce.”— Co-founder, Dr. Prahalathan K K, Bhumi NGO For more information, visit: https://go.bhumi.ngo/Skill-Ed_Media
