Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir – A powerful message of unity, hope, and action echoed from a recent meeting between humanitarian leader Fahaad Bhat and Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, the Grand Mufti of India. Held in an atmosphere of deep respect and shared purpose, the meeting marked a significant step in ongoing efforts to promote communal harmony and youth empowerment across Kashmir and beyond.

Fahaad Bhat, a 27-year-old social reformer and the founder of several leading grassroots initiatives, was granted the blessings of the Grand Mufti during a meaningful dialogue centered around rebuilding trust and fostering development in one of India’s most complex regions. Their conversation focused on the urgent need to invest in the region’s youth, protect human rights, and create a sustainable foundation for peace.

A native of Hyderpora in Srinagar, Fahaad Bhat has steadily built a reputation as one of the most influential young voices in Jammu & Kashmir’s civil society. Armed with a legal background through a B.LLB degree and years of on-the-ground social work, Bhat is known for his strategic yet compassionate approach to societal challenges. His meeting with the Grand Mufti was widely seen as a convergence of spiritual wisdom and civic leadership—signaling a renewed commitment to national harmony and grassroots resilience.

Fahaad Bhat currently serves as President of the Kashmir Book of Records, an initiative that highlights and honors remarkable individual achievements within the region. By creating a public platform to celebrate talent and innovation, the organization (www.kashmirbookofrecords.com) seeks to inspire a generation of changemakers. Simultaneously, Bhat leads the Being Humane Charitable Trust (www.beinghumane.in), which is committed to social upliftment, healthcare, and crisis response for underserved communities. As Project Head of the Jammu & Kashmir Peace Foundation (www.jkpf.org), he promotes cross-cultural understanding, interfaith dialogue, and grassroots unity through educational and social outreach programs.

Speaking after the meeting, Fahaad Bhat said, “Receiving the Grand Mufti’s blessings was more than an honor—it was a reminder of the sacred responsibility we all carry toward one another. We discussed the importance of guiding our youth, of preserving peace through empathy, and of standing united in the face of division. This is not just a political or spiritual duty—it is a human one.”

The Grand Mufti, a globally respected Islamic scholar and the first Shafi jurist from South India to hold the position, appreciated Bhat’s ongoing efforts in youth development and social justice. He urged continued interfaith collaboration and moral leadership to ensure Kashmir remains a symbol of coexistence rather than conflict. The meeting also emphasized the importance of listening to young voices and empowering them with education, employment opportunities, and a sense of belonging.

Fahaad Bhat’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Over the years, he has received numerous prestigious accolades including the International Ambassador of Peace Award, Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award, Legal Icon Award, Corona Warrior Award, Frontline Warrior Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from Tulbu World Turkish Mixed Martial Art. He has also been recognized by global and national institutions such as the Rotary Club, China University of Herbal Medicine, SAWASH, and the International Organization of Educators and Researchers. These recognitions speak to his impact not only in Kashmir but on a broader international scale.

What distinguishes Bhat’s activism is his deep personal commitment to those often left behind. His work through the Being Humane Organization extends to rural areas and marginalized populations, offering tangible relief in times of need while fostering long-term development. Under his leadership, the J&K Peace Foundation has organized interfaith summits, youth parliaments, and public dialogues that address real issues affecting the lives of ordinary Kashmiris.

Media observers note that the symbolism of this meeting goes far beyond headlines. It demonstrates how moral authority and community-based leadership can work hand-in-hand to build a stronger, more unified India. As the Secretary of the Kashmir Book of Records noted, “When those with spiritual guidance meet those working on the ground, the result is a roadmap not just for dialogue—but for transformation.”

Fahaad Bhat remains focused on his mission to serve. Despite his many awards, he often downplays personal recognition. “It’s not about me,” he says. “It’s about our people—about giving hope, healing divides, and building a better Kashmir where every young person knows their worth.”
