Some actors chase screens. Others chase substance. Shree Bishnoi, a 29-year-old debutant from Rajasthan, is choosing the latter. With his big-screen debut in the much-awaited Sriram Raghavan film Ikkis, Shree is stepping into the spotlight not with noise, but with grace, discipline, and a performance rooted in reality.

As India prepares for the October 2 release of Ikkis, the war biopic based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, all eyes are now on the man portraying Parag Singh — a real-life war hero from Jaisalmer — brought to life by Shree in a way that’s already stirring anticipation.

A Journey Rooted in Culture and Character

Born on 15 October 1995 in Jodhpur and raised in Bikaner, Shree Bishnoi’s early life was far from the glamour of film sets. His first stage was his school, where he fell in love with storytelling and theatre. From local dramas in Class 7 to award-winning inter-college performances during his Master’s at Dungar College, Bikaner — his path was never about shortcuts.

In 2017, armed with passion and a theatre notebook, he moved to Mumbai, staying close to his roots while learning the craft through stage plays like Rossogulla and Patti Chahiye Urgent. These weren’t just rehearsals — they were character-building years that prepared him for something bigger.

Ikkis: A Role of Honour and Challenge

Though Shree has appeared in web shows like Kaanchi and short films such as Sorry and Pani Ka Dharm, Ikkis is his true Bollywood debut — and what a debut it is.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis tells the story of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, and Shree plays Parag Singh, one of Khetarpal’s fellow officers in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Hailing from Jaisalmer, Parag Singh’s legacy is one of courage, sacrifice, and loyalty.

To do justice to the role, Shree went beyond the call of acting. He met Parag Singh’s family, read personal letters, and spent days understanding the emotional undertone of being in uniform during war.

“I wasn’t just playing a soldier. I was carrying his legacy,” he shared.

Filming under Raghavan’s direction, Shree experienced the rigour of detailed storytelling and the emotional immersion of real-life portrayals. “It’s one thing to act. It’s another to honour someone who lived and died for the nation. That responsibility changed me.”

A Heartfelt Tribute to His Mentor: Sriram Raghavan

In a now-viral post, Shree penned a tribute to director Sriram Raghavan, calling him not just a filmmaker, but an institution:

“Some learn from books.

Some learn from experience.

I am learning from a man who is an institution in himself.

Sriram Raghavan Sir — your vision, precision, and storytelling have not only shaped Indian cinema but also inspired actors like me to dream deeper and work harder.

Getting to share screen space under your direction is one thing — but getting to learn from your craft is a privilege I will carry for life.

This moment is not just a photo, it’s a milestone.”

Thousands applauded the humility in Shree’s words, with fellow actors and crew members echoing his sentiment. For many, this was the kind of grace the industry needs more of.

Empathy Beyond the Screen: His Voice After Ahmedabad Crash

When tragedy struck with the Ahmedabad flight crash earlier this month, Shree Bishnoi didn’t stay silent. Instead, he reached out personally to a grieving family who had lost a loved one, offering support not as a celebrity, but as a human being.

Deeply affected, he took to social media with a message that went beyond condolences:

“Every life lost is a story unfinished.

No amount of fame or film matters more than a human life.

I urge aviation authorities and airlines to take pre-flight safety protocols seriously—every system check, every drill, every precaution matters.”

He proposed practical solutions including real-time aircraft diagnostics, improved crew training, and emergency briefing enhancements. His compassion, combined with constructive suggestions, sparked nationwide applause, especially from those frustrated with performative responses by public figures.

Vision Beyond Acting: Cinema With Purpose

Shree isn’t stopping at acting. He plans to produce stories that matter — from Rajasthan’s water conservation legacy to youth mental health narratives in urban India. A strong advocate of green living, he uses his voice for environmental and educational reforms.

Despite his growing fame, he remains deeply rooted. He regularly visits Bikaner, mentors students, and promotes regional theatre. As he puts it, “Fame may come from roles. Fulfilment comes from purpose.”

What Lies Ahead

With Ikkis set to release on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, excitement is already building around Shree Bishnoi’s performance. His blend of grounded upbringing, theatre-honed craft, and emotional intelligence makes him a rare breed in today’s cinematic world.

He’s not here for quick fame or flash. He’s here to build a body of work — and a legacy — that speaks to people, just like the stories he now tells on screen.
