OTT releases this week that promise a fun-filled weekend

The first weekend of February is set to make most of us couch potatoes who instead of venturing out in the cold would prefer to binge-watch the latest OTT releases. Coming our way this weekend are six amazing stories, each with a different plot and intriguing storyline. We have put together the names of this week releases so that you get a ready reckoner to kickstart your weekend fun, check it out!

The Great Indian Murder – Disney+ Hotstar

Based on a novel named Six Suspects, the show is produced by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and directed by critically-acclaimed Tigmanshu Dhulia. The cast lineup, consisting of Pratik Gandhi, Ashutosh Rana, Richa Chadha, Raghubir Yadav and Paoli Dam, amongst others, is enough in itself to trigger your interest, but adding to it is the genre – thriller. A probe into the murder of a spoilt brat leads to six suspects falling in the CBI net. Thereafter begins an investigation full of innumerable twists, turns and versions. The show streams on Disney+ Hotstar.

Detective Boomrah – MX Player

It is after a long gap that a detective series is released this week. The first season of Detective Boomrah, streaming now on MX Player, shows a detective duo investigating the disappearance of a man who had appeared mysteriously in a locked room of a Haveli-turned-heritage hotel in Rajasthan. The mystery deepens when Detective Boomrah comes across a Sitar girl and faces an attack by an unidentified assailant. The series has been directed by Sudhanshu Rai, who also plays the role of Detective Boomrah.

Loop Lapeta – Netflix

The Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin starrer releasing on Netflix is a roller coaster ride full of thrill, excitement and edge-of-the seat moments. A major highlight of the film, as suggested by the trailer, is a time loop referred to as ‘cycle of life’, wherein both Satya and Savi are stuck. Savi has just 50 minutes to arrange Rs 50 lakh to save her boyfriend, who happens to get shot dead. Soon after, he is alive as if time has turned back. Directed by Aakash Bhatia, Loop Lapeta is touted as the perfect combination of comedy and thriller.

Rocket Boys – Sony Liv

Rocket Boys, releasing on Sony Liv, is a tribute to two sons of the soil – Dr Homi J Bhabha and Dr Vikram Sarabhai, who are considered the pioneers of India’s space adventure. The series delves deeper into the life of the great Indian scientists, who worked in both foreign land as well as India to take India’s space programme beyond the glass ceiling. The series stars Ishwak Singh, Jim Sarbh, Regina Cassandra, Rajit Kapoor and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, among others, in lead roles.

Murderville – Netflix

A part scripted crime comedy, part improv exercise and part immersive plot make Murderville a must watch for those fond of international shows. In each episode, a guest who is a celebrity joins detective Terry Seattle to solve different cases. With a likable cast, guest stars and complex mysteries, Murderville refrains from getting intense with a number of light-hearted and funny moments. Therefore, do not miss out on the improvisational crime comedy on Netflix.
