Plastic is an incredibly useful and versatile material on which modern society relies, yet it has become one of the most topical environmental issues of the day. Now, too much plastic ends up in our environment.

Beyond what can be renewed each year, we are taking more and more resources and are overtaking the planet. Plastic pollution is the most visible example of the havoc we’re causing on our planet. From our local beaches to the Arctic, plastic is choking our oceans and killing wildlife. Global research has shown the flow of plastic into the ocean each year could triple by 2040.

Every single country is part of this plastic adversity. And every single one must be part of the solution!

Now the question is why sustainability?
The motivations behind sustainability are often complex, personal and diverse. It is unrealistic to create a list of reasons why so many individuals, groups and communities are working towards this goal. Yet, for most people, sustainability comes down to the kind of future we are leaving for the next generation.

The government of India announced the ban on plastic in August, following its 2019 resolution to address plastic pollution in the country. Also, many companies started doing their bit by adopting sustainable practices, which can have significant impacts in the long run. Uma Group through its initiatives has been the major contributor to the campaign by working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver on sustainability goals.
