In 2016, Sunny and Ritu established ‘Umeed Upanishad’ in Pira Gadhi, a teaching institution dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children. Their initiative began when they observed that many talented children were deprived of education solely due to financial constraints. Their aim was to ensure that poverty never becomes a barrier to any child’s dreams.
Gradually, other educators joined this initiative. Dedicated teachers like Rahul Sir, Pandey Sir, Punita Madam, Moksha Madam, Vivek Sir, Kajal, Shilpi, Kranti, Sangeeta, and Soni Madam have collectively strengthened this institution. With their efforts, ‘Umeed Upanishad’ has set a new benchmark in the field of education.
Today, ‘Umeed Upanishad’ has over 400 students who are not only receiving education but are also reaching new heights of excellence in their lives. Every year, students are emerging as CBSE toppers in the 10th and 12th grades. This year alone, over 80 children topped their respective classes, which is a testament not only to their individual efforts but also to the hard work and dedication of their teachers.
The curriculum at Umeed Upanishad focuses not just on formal education but also emphasizes holistic development of the students. Confidence is cultivated through sports, arts, and various educational activities.
Sunny and Ritu’s initiative has become an inspiration for all those wishing to bring about social change in the field of education.
